Music Appreciation (MUS101) is an exciting new advanced class offering DUAL CREDIT with SOUTHWESTERN ILLINOIS COLLEGE. Successful completion of this intense one semester class and passing the final exam earn the student not just a fine art credit from CHS, but full college credit for Music Appreciation 101 at SWIC. Non-music college students are required to take this course or an art course. Our new course fulfills that requirement! Students completing the requirements will end with 3 semester hours of college credit - for FREE! Why not take a course for free in high school that you will have to take in college otherwise?!

General Music is a one semester course that surveys aspects of music such as styles, composers, history, careers, and performance. It is a very hands-on class offering a broad perspective.

Piano Class I and II is a group piano class taught in the music computer lab. Level I is the very beginning instruction. Students work at their own pace with individual tutelage in a group setting. Level II is the second semester, beginning at the level of mastery achieved in level I. Students will have the opportunity to perform in a class recital during each semester.
